METU Graduate Application Date 2021
Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (ODTÜ) offers an extensive range of graduate level (Master’s & Ph.D.) programs. The maximum duration of education is three years for Master’s programs and six years for Doctoral programs.
A Bachelors’ degree or a proof of nearly completed Bachelors’ program with good grades is one of the main conditions of application procedures for graduate programs.
The medium of instruction at ODTÜ is English. All students who wish to carry out their graduate studies at ODTÜ have to certify their proficiency in the English language through IELTS or TOEFL (those who are the citizen of a country official language of which is English and who are graduated from universities providing their education in English do not have to certify their proficiency in the English language).

- Check which institutions, departments, programs and degrees are open for application.

STEP.2:Choose Applicant Type
- Choose which one is your applicant type.
A – Active METU student (registered)
- A.1:You have to use your e-mail address belonging to your METU student number. E.g: e12345@metu.edu.tr
- A.2:Your password is METU user account password.
- A.3:For your account/password questions and problems, you can use User Account Management web page https://useraccount.metu.edu.tr
- A.4:Your academic background, graduation and your personal information are accessed by the system. If any information is missing, please communicate with METU Registrar’s Office.
B – Former METU student (applying to Ms-Phd for the first time and METU student account is closed)
- B.1:You have to sign up with a new user account by using the link ‘New User’. Enter a valid e-mail address and define a password.
- B.2:An activation e-mail will be sent and activate your account by clicking the link in the e-mail..
- B.3:Login to METU MS-PhD application system with your e-mail and password, fill the information required at the next page. Then, system detects you as a former METU student.
- B.4:If any information is missing, please communicate with METU Registrar’s Office.
C – Graduates of other universities who applied METU MS-PhD before
C.1.Your last application e-mail is still active and you remember your password
C.2.Your last application e-mail is still active and you forget your password.
C.3. Your last application e-mail is not active.
D – Graduates of other universities who never applied to METU MS-PhD before
- D.1:You have to sign up for new user account by using the link ‘New User’. Enter a valid e-mail address and define a password.
- D.2:An activation e-mail will be sent and activate your account by clicking the link in the e-mail.
- D.3:Login to METU MS-PhD application system with your e-mail and password, fill the information required at the next page.
E – Graduates of other universities who applied with wrong e-mail
STEP.3:Start Online Application
- According to your applicant type at STEP.2, sign in with your e-mail address and password to start online application.
- You have to click ‘Add New Program’ button in order to start your program application.
- You will see a menu of items to be filled composed of two main parts (Applicant Profile Information, Program Application).
- You will see that some areas of the forms are auto filled, left empty, updatable or non-updateable by the system according to your applicant type you set at STEP 1
- For extra information, look at step 1 or follow the help, hint and FAQs.
STEP.6:Applying to more than One Program
- If you want to apply to more than one department/program, you can make a new application by following the instructions beginning from step 3. You cannot apply more than one degree at the same department/program.
STEP.7:Submit
- Once you finish filling forms and uploading documents, you will see all the information you entered on a page after you select submit menu. Read them carefully for any mistake.
- When you are sure that all the information is correct for the department/program you are applying, press the ‘SUBMIT’ button to finalize your application form.
- Your application will be forwarded to the institute(s) for final control after the application deadline.
- In an unlikely event that you need to change anything BEFORE the deadline, you can make changes as you wish. Make sure that you press ‘SUBMIT’ button to finalize again.
- Do not forget that you will not be able to change anything after the deadline.
STEP.8:Check Application Status
- You can check your application status from the Main Page (Application for Admission to Graduate Programs at METU) by entering your email and password .
- If you have any question or face with a problem about the application system, send them via “Information Request about METU Graduate Programs Application” form.

Graduate programs are administered by Graduate Schools. Masters programs are two-year programs leading to the Masters of Science (M.S.) or Masters of Arts (M.A.). Some departments have options of Masters with thesis or without thesis and some departments offer an evening Masters Program without thesis. Doctoral programs lead to a Ph.D.

For the graduate program applications, applicants are also expected to take one of the following exams; the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam (ALES), the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
Entry requirements for graduate programs vary depending on each department or graduate school. Therefore, make sure that you fulfill the requirements of the related program through consulting with the contact person from the relevant graduate school.
